ELBERTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

FUNCTIONS

Elberton’s Police Department is a professional law enforcement agency that employs 24 personnel and provides 24-hour-a-day police protection to the citizens of Elberton. The police department is a showcase of modern police design with many new electronic accessories such as closed-circuit camera systems, digital training media and a state-of-the-art computerized records management system.

MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of the Elberton Police Department to provide integrity-based police services to our community with humanity, respect, and professionalism.

TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY

The success of any police department depends upon the support and cooperation it receives from the people of the community it seeks to serve. It is of primary importance that the officers of the Elberton Police Department strive to maintain the respect and confidence of the citizens of Elberton and the public at large. The Department’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) establish policies and protocols for police actions, expectations, and responsibilities. These SOPs include policies relating to all facets of police operations including, but not limited to, Use of Force and other related items.

ACCIDENT REPORTS

Citizens and insurance companies may request incident reports at the cost of $5.00 per report. Reports will be ready 3 - 5 business days after the incident. To expedite your request, please include the case number.

Reports can be requested by:

  • Mail - Include cash or a check, made out to the City of Elberton, with a stamped, self-addressed envelope, P.O. Box 70, Elberton, GA 30635.
  • Pick up - Cash only at the Elberton Police Department Building located at 209 Elbert Street, Elberton, GA 30635.
  • Email - For free service send request to coecourt@cityofelberton.net
  • Online-at https://www.buycrash.com/ accident reports only, excluding private property reports.
COMPLAINTS & COMPLIMENTS

It is the policy of the Elberton Police Department to actively investigate all citizen complaints received, including those filed anonymously. File a complaint or a compliment in person, via email, by phone, or by mail.

HOUSE CHECK REQUESTS

The Elberton Police are happy to routinely check the homes of City of Elberton residents while residents are out of town. Requests must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to departure. If you should return from your trip early, please let us know.

CRIMINAL HISTORIES

The Elberton Police Department provides Georgia Criminal History reports.

  • The fee for this service is $20 per report.
  • Requests must be made in person by the requestor at Elberton Police Department, located at 209 Elbert Street, Elberton GA 30635 | Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
RESTRICTION REQUESTS
  • The fee for this service is $25 per arrest.
  • Requests must be made in person by the requestor at Elberton Police Department.
