DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE
POLICY OF THE CITY OF ELBERTON
WHEREAS: the United States
Congress has enacted the Drug-FreeWorkplace
Act of 1988; and
WHEREAS: the purpose of this law is to ensure that work done
under Federal Contracts or Federal Grants
is performed in a
drug-free work environment; and
WHEREAS: failure to comply with this law constitutes grounds
to revoke Federal Contracts, Federal Grants and Federal
Funds from the City of Elberton, any and all of which would
result to the irreparable harm and damage of the City of
Elberton; and
WHEREAS: in any event it is the policy of the City of
Elberton to prohibit its employees from engaging in the
unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation,
possession, or use of illegal drugs in the workplace, and
further, from engaging in any such illegal activity at all
times and at all places; and
WHEREAS: such activity, even during non-working hours,
clearly affects an employee’s ability to perform his public
duties; and
NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the above, in accordance
with the policy of the City of Elberton, and pursuant to
law, the City of Elberton adopts the following as its
drug-free policy.
