Welcome to the City of Elberton Animal Control Division. As part of Elberton's Police Department, we serve the Corporate Limits of Elberton by protecting the citizens and animals of our community.

The mission of the Elberton Animal Control Unit is to enforce the state laws and city ordinances pertaining to animal control and management; educate the community in responsible pet ownership; and provide for the housing and care of homeless animals and coordinate their adoption when possible and their humane euthanization when adoption is not possible.

LOST AND FOUND

Call 706-433-1004 if this is your pet

Adoption

Elberton Animal Control has many adoptable animals housed at their shelter located at 1396 Filter Plant Road. Many breeds of animals can be found housed at our facility ready for adoption.

Although our intent is to adopt animals, our main concern is to make sure that animals are adopted into loving homes capable of handling the new pet. Elberton Animal Control requires individuals wishing to adopt an animal to sign a spay/neuter agreement and adoption record form. This is for the safety of the animal being adopted. Visit www.petfinder.com

Complaints

Complaints are monitored daily (exception Sunday). If you are submitting a complaint during other times, your complaint will be received and handled on the next monitored date/time. You can contact Animal Control by calling central dispatch at 911 or 706-433-1004.

Please return completed complaint form to the Elberton Animal Control by fax  706-283-8563, email elbertonanimalshelter@elberton.net, or at 209 Elbert Street, Elberton, GA 30635.

Lost and Found

Many animals come to Animal Control lost from their owners. Those with ID tags, rabies tags or micro chips find their way home quicker if their information is correct.

Those unfortunate animals without a tag or microchip have to wait until their owner comes to the shelter looking for them.

If you are looking for your animal, come to the shelter to look for it. If it is not located at the Shelter you can submit a lost animal report
