The City Marshal is the Legal Enforcement Arm for the City of Elberton. The City Marshal enforces all city ordinance and codes implemented by the City Council which is done through inspections, investigations, and citations. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

·     Collects delinquent taxes, including occupational and alcoholic beverage licenses

·     Issues citations 

·     Enforces the Alcoholic Beverage Code through inspection, investigation and citations

·     Enforces all section of the City code through cooperation and coordination with other City departments

·     Collects fees due to the City

·     Disposes of abandoned vehicles by obtaining court orders and selling unclaimed vehicles at public auction

·     Files liens on property

·     Investigates and reports incidents involving city equipment, vehicles and staff

·     Issues citations for junk in private yards, abandoned vehicles and working without permits.
