The City Marshal is the legal enforcement arm for the City of
Elberton. It is the Marshal's job to enforce all city ordinance and
codes implemented by the city council. This is done through
inspections, investigations, citations, and arrest. Other
responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Investigates all types of utility thefts
Enforces the alcoholic beverage code
Collects fees dues to the city, including delinquent occupational and
alcoholic beverage licenses
Disposes of abandoned vehicles
Abatement of nuisance or dilapidated properties
Investigates and reports incidents involving city equiptment, vehicles,
and staff
Assist other city departments when needed
In addition, the City Marshal is also the Zoning Compliance Officer.
Responsibilities include reviewing application on zoning matters,
interprets the zoning ordinance and the zoning atlas, keeps records on
all zoning matter, makes recommendation to the planning commission,
represents the city in matters before the zoning board of adjustments
and appeals, and makes recommendation to the city manager and elected
officials.
