Lanier
Dunn, City Manager
Lanier Dunn was appointed as City Manager of Elberton effective
April 15, 2006. Lanier has worked at the City of Elberton more than
10 years, since January, 2001. Previously Lanier served as the
city's accountant, and was later promoted
to business manager and controller. Lanier is licensed by the State
of Georgia as a Certified Public Accountant.
Lanier is a member of the Board of
Directors of Georgia Public Web, Inc., a Georgia non-profit
corporation formed in 1998 to help "Bridge Georgia's Digital Divide"
by delivering high-end technology services to metro Atlanta and
communities throughout the State of Georgia. He also serves on the
Accounting Advisory Committee of Athens Technical College.
Lanier attended the University of
Georgia in Athens where he majored in banking and finance at the
Terry College of Business. Lanier graduated Magna Cum Laude
as a Bachelor of Business Administration in June 1998, earning the
Honors Program Certificate of Academic Achievement.
Lanier attended Brenau University in
Gainesville and Augusta and completed his Master of Business
Administration degree in December 2005, with a concentration in
management and accounting.
Prior to employment at the City of
Elberton, Lanier worked in manufacturing accounting and finance at
Kennametal Industrial Products Group in Clemson, SC and Automotive
Electronic Control Systems, Inc. (AUTECS) in Anderson, SC.
Lanier is active in the community
serving many years as treasurer for Encore Productions, the resident
community theatre group for the historic Elbert Theatre.
Lanier serves on the District
Committee on Church Development for the Athens-Elberton District of
the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. He is
a member at New Bethel United Methodist Church where he has served
in many capacities including Chairman
of the Board, Sunday School Superintendent, and Secretary.
