Purpose and Objective:
The purpose of this policy is to establish a Smoke and
Tobacco Free Workplace. Therefore, each employee is required
to adhere to this policy. Each department has designated a
smoke/tobacco area for those employees who wish to do so
while on break or at lunch.
Guidelines:
-
Employees are not permitted
to smoke or use any form of tobacco while on the job.

Each department is to have
a designated area for smokers and tobacco users. This
are must be used by employees during their breaks and
lunch hours.

No employee is to smoke in
a city vehicle, or be seen smoking in view of the
public.

If this policy is not
enforced by each employee, it will result in an adverse
action.
Disciplinary Actions:
A progression of adverse action will be enforced for
violations of our policy as follows:
-
First Offense – written
warning
-
Second Offense – three (3)
days suspension; and
-
Third Offense – a possible
termination of employment.
Scope:
The City of Elberton appreciates cooperation in adhering to
the smoke/tobacco free policy. |
