The Human Resources Department is responsible for the recruitment,
selection, evaluation, in-house training, workplace safety, and employee
relations of all personnel hired by the city. The city operates under
a legally adopted Personnel Plan with written policies
and
procedures designed to provide capable employees
while assuring fair treatment of applicants
and
employees in all aspects of personnel administration
without regard to political affiliation, race,
color,
national origin, gender, religious creed, age, or
disability and with proper regard for their
privacy and
constitutional rights as citizens. The personnel system
provides services for
approximately 130 full-time
employees.
The City of Elberton is a Drug-Free Workplace.

No employee of the City of Elberton may illegally engage
in the manufacture, distribution, dispensation, traffic,
possession or use of a controlled substance at any time
or place, including, but not limited to, while at his
or her workplace; provided however, that nothing
contained herein shall prevent an employee from
ingestion of medicine pursuant to valid medical
prescription. Any such unlawful activity will be
considered by the City of Elberton to be sufficient
ground for a serious adverse personnel action, and can
result in dismissal from employment with the City of
Elberton.
